Yoga for Scuba Divers

Yoga for Scuba Divers

$23.41

Yoga for Scuba Divers teaches you poses, breathing exercises, visualization methods, and yoga ethics that make you a better diver. By practicing the poses you can: enhance your finning techniques and underwater stability, build core power and abdominal control to finetune your buoyancy, and improve your balance and strength for walks on the shore in full gear. The breathing exercises teach you to breathe steadily during physical exertion, keeping you calm under water. All the yoga poses are practiced on land. Yoga for Scuba Divers includes visualizations to prepare you mentally for upcoming dives. Athletes use visualization to enhance performance; its powerful for divers, too. You will also learn yoga principles, such as nonviolence, and how they apply to divers. Todd Stedl is a PADI Open Water Scuba Instructor. Kimberlee Jensen Stedl is a Registered Yoga Teacher and an American Council on Exercise Faculty member. Together they have been diving and doing yoga since they met in 2002. What should I expect from the ‘Advanced Open Water Diver’ course?

I am doing the course in the Dominican Republic next week, I have already done the Open Water Diver course, which was easy, except I found the underwater navigation and the dive tables quite tricky.
What do I do in this course?
How long does it take?
What skills do you learn?
Do I need to take another test?

Any additional Information will help.
Thanks

The format is the same as your open water as far as how you’re taught. You better bone up on your Nav skills though, you’ll need to be able to navigate a box square by compass alone and come up at your start point. Your tables will also play a more important role than they already do since you’re expected to complete a deep dive as well. During that dive, you’ll probably be given some simple math to do at depth. That’s to show you what narcosis is all about. You’ll fine tune your buoyancy some more but otherwise the course really just helps you hone some already established skill sets while introducing you to more advanced dive planning, physiology and deeper dives. I assume you’re doing a PADI course so beyond the deep and nav dive, you’ll also do three other “specialty” dives. Your choice on which ones you do that are offered by the dive outfit you’re doing this with. Finally…yes..you’ll be tested. It’ll be easier for you than the OW since you’re now familiar with how the instruction is structured,
