If it’s your first time skiing, you probably don’t want to invest too much money in ski equipment until you determine if you like it or not.
To try to answer your questions…
We’re a ski family and we change into our ski stuff in the car. We walk in our ski boots carrying skis & poles to buy tickets. The less to lose & look after the better.
Clothing wise: WEAR A HELMET!! Dress in layers – an underarmour type long sleeved tshirt or turtleneck, with polar fleece ontop, and then a ski jacket or weatherproof shell, depending on how cold it is there. On the bottom, long underwear, and/or sweatpants, or polar fleece with water resistant pants. A neck warmer (not a scarf). On your feet, wool socks. (cotton gets sweaty then cold)
Goggles are not supplied. Goggles are good if it’s snowing or really cold. On a warm day you can do without. On a warm sunny day, you could go old school and just wear shades.
Spending more money on stuff like a jacket depends on whether you are dressing to impress anyone – so I suppose the advantage is in who you pick up.
