Anybody got Tips for A Snorkeling Trip Alone?

I just discovered snorkeling. My husband had his military summer camp in Hawaii and I got to snorkel for the first time. It was amazing! The thing is I don’t have anyone to do vacations like this because my hubby is afraid of the water.
Can anyone suggest a safe place to go alone to snorkel. Maybe a cruise? I don’t mind traveling alone I just want to do something where there will be many other travelers around me.

I was in your situation last year, when I’d split up with my g/f, who (like your other half) didn’t like being in deep water. Like you I’m addicted to snorkelling, and a bit of (non-extreme) freediving. I went to Anthony’s Key Resort in Honduras, where they run a dedicated snorkelling programme, and I had a great time. There was always lots of intelligent company, mostly from USA and Canada.

I think the resort has about 100 guests at any one time, and the snorkel boat usually took 5-12 of us out per trip. You can also snorkel and kayak from the resort. They ran 2 boat trips a day, plus a night snorkel inshore, which was good fun. I doubt you’d get so much reef time from a cruise, but there would be many other entertainments.

I’ve also been to the Red Sea, where the snorkelling is terrific, but there wasn’t such a ‘community feel’ at the resort — most of the people were there for sun, sand, sea (etc.!) and you were with a different group of snorkellers every trip, so no time to make real friends. And I don’t speak Russian!
