Don’t ever think that it only happens to you. I have been diving since 1996. I did not pass my open water first try. I had to do it a second time.
Try to relax, concentrate on the dives, and not other things when you are underwater. You will demonstrate the skills to your instructor. The instructor will very likely will let you perform the skills more than once, if the first attempt was not satisfactory. You know how to do them, you have done it many times, relax, watch others as they do it if you are in a group, recollect the procedure in your mind, and Just Do It. Be as confident as you can be. Scuba instructors are not there to flunk you, or have fun with you because to don’t know. The skills you demonstrate are critical to Scuba Diving. The instructor wants to assure that you are able to perform the skills with a reasonable confidence. All of this is for your safety underwater. You will not be a expert Scuba Diver the minute you become certified.
Go to the open water dives, relax, have fun, run the skills through your mind, like you take test. This is way different than taking a math, or a language exam in school. Happy Diving.
