Scuba Certification Advice?

So, this summer, i am going to be taking a scuba certification course, so i can get my open water certification (with PADI). So, i see that if you are from 10-14, you get the junior license. I will be taking the course in july, and i turn 15 at the end of august. Would i still get the junior certification? or is it more of a estimate thing than an exact age type of deal? Thanks!

Despite triforce’s comments, all scuba diving training in the US follows the same basic requirements. PADI has just done a better job at marketing scuba diving to the general public than the other agencies.

I confirmed this with PADI this morning. The card you will receive will solely be based on your age when you fill out the certification paperwork. After the certification dives, you will fill out a PIC form. This is the certification paperwork. If the certification date is in July and your birthday is in August, then yes, you will get the Junior certification card.

With that said, whether you are 14 or 41, you will complete the exact same course. I have known people that still flash their junior card at the age of 20. To upgrade your card is as simple as filling out new paperwork.
