What scuba school is the best? PADI or NAUI?


Which certification is the most recognized/honored by dive shops and instruction schools? PADI or NAUI? I’m trying to decide the best route for becoming a dive instructor/divemaster. I’ve checked into schools that offer full programs; some PADI, some NAUI. I’ve also been thinking about getting my open water certification first before entering into full courses. Just asking for some advice, if this is a good plan, or should I undergo a school’s program with very little experience or with an entry-level certification?

The best by far is BSAC, but if you’ve got to choose between PADI and NAUI my vote goes to PADI only because it is more commonly recognised in more countries – and scuba is a truly international pastime.
