Lessons from the Koh Tao PADI Dive Course: Part 2 - Hazardous marine life in the Gulf of Thailand
99% of the time these problems are not based on facts, but on hearsay, so it is our job to put the right information and alleviate anxiety. But that does not mean that there is some marine species you need to look!
So put the record right, this is a review of risks (and not so dangerous) marine life coming in proximity to title = "Diving Equipment Koh Tao> Koh Tao diving, Thailand.
Sharks
After many generations of Hollywood movies, sharks have developed a pretty fearsome reputation, leaving the new divers or intrigued or petrified!
The reality is that diving in Koh Tao, one must have the luck to see a shark, but when you do a fantastic experience. Bull sharks at Chumphon Pinnacles Koh Tao grow at an impressive size, but when it does a place to swim fast. There are no facts known to them attacking divers Koh Tao (preferring to eat small fish!).
In the unlikely event that took on a shark that was acting aggressively, you must stay still and calm, and slowly walk away.
Trigger-Fish
Koh Tao Titan trigger fish on the other hand are much different, and are well known to local dive instructor and Divemaster PADI. The trigger fish are very territorial, and build nests in the sand, close to many of the dive sites of Koh Tao. While most of the time, the trigger fish can be seen peacefully feeding on corals, at other times of year is best to stay away from their nesting area as this will only provoke a reaction disgusting!
Jellyfish
Fortunately Koh Tao diving usually do not involve contact with jellyfish. The most common time to see jellyfish is when you are sitting in the safety stop depth above one of deep dive sites Koh Tao pinnacle, with jellyfish drifting past course. The best action is to address the current and keep a lookout - if you do a spy jellyfish drifting toward you, get out of his way. If you are unfortunate enough receiving a bite, once back on the boat the treatment of the bite of vinegar and remove any remaining tentacles with forceps.
Scorpion fish
And scorpion fish are masters of camouflage, the merger between corals in most dive sites of Koh Tao. Usually very small, scorpion fish and is lined with a series of thorns like a (self-defense mechanism.) In general, scorpion fish and stand still, so if you control their buoyancy and avoid touching the coral (which should not anyway) do not have a problem. If I had the misfortune to collide with a scorpion fish and get your skin pierced by one of these spines, most likely had experience local pain and swelling, which can be relieved by bathing in hot water to denature the venom.
Anemones
Magnificent anemones look spectacular and are abundant in the Koh Tao dive sites. But be careful not to brush against them - in contact with skin may leave an irritating rash.
The rocks and coral!
By far the most common cause of a diving injury is due to poor control of buoyancy, or put your hands where it should not. Most corals (and many rocks) are very sharp to catch them can result in cuts. It is important to get this cleaned properly, as there are many bacteria that live in tropical waters, which can lead a nasty infection if not treated.
So in charge of our commonly found dangerous (or not so dangerous) marine life. , Again later than the third of our series of lessons from the Koh Tao title = "Padi open water courses"> PADI Open Water, where see the buddy system and how to communicate underwater, or for more information, visit The Simple Life Divers website [http://www.simplelifedivers.com].
