Scuba Question for Women: Best Mask?

I am new to scuba diving and am about to purchase my equipment. Can you recommend a mask?

I would say that you want to buy your mask from a shop where you can actually try it on, this is very important, especially if this is your first mask.

Pick a mask, place it on your face, and if you can easily keep it on your face simply by breathing in a little from your nose, then the face mask suits the shape of your face.

By keeping the mask on your face, I mean that you should be able to lean forward and even shake your head a little without the mask falling off if you have breathed in a little with your nose (ie “sucking” the mask to you face).

You should also look at how much you can see from the mask (ie left / right / up / down ) and pick one that does not feel claustrophobic to you) there are lots of types.

If you are joining a club, the best way ever is to try loads of masks from your club members (I’m sure they will not mind!) and that way you will easily find the best of the bunch.

There are LOADS of masks and a HUGE range of prices, so if you can fit one to your face before you buy, that is the best option!

Good Luck & Safe Diving!
